Francisco Gimeno - BC Analyst Real Estate is going to be the biggest problem in many parts of the world and unless this is solved so housing is affordable, the whole thing will fall. How can it be that market rents can't be afforded by families where both work, where evictions are part of the day, renters have to suffer humiliations every day by renting the cheapest and usually worse housing, even in the caravan campings. Private Equity Funds are getting lots of profit playing with Real Estate. In US, those in this situation call themselves survivors. The social contract that existed before, where families working enough could afford housing, a car, a middle class life, is broken in US. Imagine then what is happening in many other parts of the world. Think in an African megaurb where rental prices go up a 30 percent for a room without electricity or water for a family with ver low income. This is unbearable even if we humans are resilient. Money, profits, are not the goal. The goal is to build a better society. If the basic rights of people are denied something is wrong, whether you live in an autocracy or in a democracy.
