Francisco Gimeno - BC Analyst Imagine UK with a double digit inflation starting 2023, a whooping 18.6 percent, which is big even for European countries already suffering the biggest inflation rates in many years. In fact, the prices in some key sectors, like energy (heating and electricity for people and factories) may be so high that it will deeply damage the UK economy for some time, notwithstanding the damage done to citizens freezing in the middle of winter, or closed factories (producing unemployment and more economic debacle). This is the worst scenery, and let's believe the UK Government is already thinking how to navigate these stormy economic times which can produce a social conflict. This is one of the reasons, for instance, from UK to proactively help Ukraine against Russia which uses gas as a political weapon to weaken the European solidarity. It seems adequate to quote Dickens here: “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.” Take care out there.
