Francisco Gimeno - BC Analyst Guy was one of the first talking about fake trading volume in crypto. Some reports say even a 50% of the trading is fake. This is the report Guy is summarising. His analysis as usual is a jewel among the many "crypto experts" who basically will tell you many words but little substance. If you want to understand and get the reports which appear, he is the guy (allow me the pun). This fake trading volume is there because of unregulated exchanges which need to show volume to get more clients, or just few but with loads of capital. Even many of the regulated exchanges have had to clean their own past acts. The findings of the report are not surprising for those who have worked with crypto long time but makes it difficult for many to believe in the digital economy. Let's hope that these practices disappear as much as possible (as in the fiat world, they never totally disappear).
