Francisco Gimeno - BC Analyst The race to reach the holy grail of energy production through fusion technology is in the hands of three powers, the US, China, and the EU, by this order. There are basically two methods which are being researched and in both some breakthroughs are coming. The news on the achievement of "fusion ignition" as it is technically called, even if was for just a microsecond is per se something which had not been achieved before. We need however to wait for some time (up to 50 years, even) before we can say we have proper fusion energy working to generate enough energy to phase out fuel or coal. Let's be long term optimistic then.
