Francisco Gimeno - BC Analyst There have been interesting UBI trials around the world, mostly with no clear results or even negative ones. We don't have enough data from this podcast to understand the whole UBI experiment in Denver beyond the number of beneficiaries (144 homeless people) and the amount (12k USD). Common sense would say many of these homeless people will continue to stay ike that, and a smaller percentage will be successful in one way or another to come out from that situation. But the aim of UBI trial is to check if UBI can really work in the future for a population which will live in a totally different society from the one living now, where job creation and job market will be totally different, and many will not have jobs as we know now. UBI is not assistance or a financial help, but a way to level the situation for those who will be in circumstances where jobs as we know now don't exist. Many people working in services now will be out of job when digital economy and robotic tech is used everywhere, where one AI solve what many people are solving now, where we won't consider money as it is considered, but maybe as Credits, tokens, which some will earn and some will receive as basic income which is used to survive in a new society without going to poverty or crime. Anyway, the idea is good, but it would be only incentivised or implemented when societies are already in a deep transformation to a digital based world.
