Artificial Intelligence is advancing at a pace faster than anyone could have previously predicted. Legislators across the planet race to keep up and protect us from what they refer to as ‘Nightmare Scenarios’ - Here are 6 of those situations.

Francisco Gimeno - BC Analyst There is no disruptive tech which has only a positive side. There are always negative sides. But, what about AI’s development? This is not just a new tech which changes the world, like the petrol or diesel engine. This is a tech which will change society in ways we don’t even understand now. But let’s start with AI algorithms which can be used for mass surveillance and privacy infringement. Even in a democracy and even with the best of intentions, this is very dangerous. And what about deep fakes, and how to know what is real or not and the possibility of living in a 1984 kind of society where everything is rewritten and interpreted according to the needs of those in power for the control of the people. What about the ethical and legal frameworks which AI development needs and it’s not going at the same speed as AI evolution. In short, this is a topic with lots of concerns, very complex and multifaceted risks and with very little time for careful consideration and regulation.
