Francisco Gimeno - BC Analyst Big news in the tech world: Google has reportedly broken a major promise related to its AI development and deployment. In particular its promise of not using AI for any business related to war, weapons, etc. This revelation raises serious questions about accountability, transparency, and the ethical responsibilities of tech giants in the age of artificial intelligence. Google had committed to developing and deploying AI in a way that prioritizes ethical considerations, transparency, and user trust. But now, changing this, consequences are huge. Maybe it is because the geopolitical landscape has changed, maybe because the increasing competition between tech companies developing AI which include developing AI for the military. Well. We are sure other powers like China, even North Korea can develop AI for weapons too. But is this ethical? Is it time for the whole planet to setting policies on how to approach AI development, with strong accountability mechanisms and develop ethical AI practices? Is this even possible now in the world we live now in 2025?. While we are excited and hopeful about AI, some possibilities are really scary.
