The term metaverse was first coined by American author Neal Stephenson in his sci-fi novel Snow Crash in 1992. It describes a parallel digital universe and the next iteration of the internet, which promises to allow us to live, work and play within the virtual world.

Being 65 was being old. With better medicine and technology this is not true anymore in advanced economies. What to do then? We have to change the systems, as we are changing every thing in our society with the new 4th IR paradigm. Change the way we see retirement, work, health, creativity, and of course care for the elderly in societies where more and more very old people live for decades and need support. Change is everything now.

Not so much the comments about the existence of these skyscrapers as investment, more than housing. Something that is happening in other ultra expensive cities like London, and that slowly spreads towards normal buildings and housing. Some real estate companies like BlackRock now are using the same tactic, to buy housing just for investment. While profit is always a legitimate option, the fact that housing is also a human right should not be forgotten. Billionaires have their own problems. The rest of us need affordable housing.

Bitcoin layer-2 protocol Lightning network strikes it big
“The Lightning Network capacity has increased exponentially in the last year. Now, there are about 3,000 Bitcoin in the Lightning Network, which means the liquidity of Bitcoin has increased a lot because the Lightning Network allows small and fast transactions for really almost no cost. This is very important for emerging countries like El Salvador, for instance, or countries in Africa or other Latin American countries because people don’t have high income. And so, they can only basically use the Lightning Network because Bitcoin on the blockchain itself sometimes has higher transaction fees.”

“There are already many tools for content creators now to be able to earn Bitcoin over Lightning. We will see a huge number of new revenue models and possibilities for content creators on the internet, which also are open for people globally. Bitcoin as legal tender
“Maybe Panama, Ecuador — they all have the U.S. dollar — they might start adopting Bitcoin as neutral money for their own sovereignty. So with Bitcoin, not only individuals like you and me can gain more self-sovereignty, also nation states can gain more self sovereignty, and that’s what El Salvador is trying to do at the moment.”
Inflation powers Bitcoin adoption
“Everybody is telling us, ‘Oh, inflation is transitory.’ And suddenly they have to say, ‘No, it’s not transitory. It will grow and we’ll need to do something against it.’… I fear that we will see higher inflation. But on the other hand, people learn about this now and maybe choose Bitcoin because there can never be money-supply inflation in Bitcoin.”

Blockchains beyond Bitcoin
“We’re going to see an explosion of new blockchains coming. Right now we have the big three or big five that everybody that’s got into blockchain is kind of aware of — your Bitcoin, your Ethereum — and those use their own blockchains. We’re seeing now a need for different blockchains for specialized industries. We’re going to see it going into more traditional avenues of logistics. Manufacturing is what we’re interested in [at SyncFab] and seeing how maybe a different blockchain can be utilized more efficiently for that. What we’re going to see is an increase in newer, more efficient blockchains that can help with some of the different industry pain points that we’re seeing.
Shakeout coming
“With any new technology, there’s always a speculative nature. You think the web boom of the late ’90s and early 2000s of all the different web companies that were popping up. It’s kind of the Wild West at first and then soon, once the legitimate use cases come out of it and ones with businesses that are able to operate. There’ll be a shakeout and you’ll see some of the true players that that are accomplishing real everyday use cases that can be accomplished.”
