Francisco Gimeno - BC Analyst The Ukraine war has a very complicated narrative, and the consequences are many and some of them may open doors which Europeans thought had been closed since the last big European war. Finland (and Sweden) deciding to abandon their neutrality to side with NATO countries (Finland even signing a defence pact with UK before) on the wake of the Russian aggression means something fundamental has changed. This is not a war of black and white tones, but a lot of greys. Many compare what is happening to the movements on the months conducive to the start of the First World War, a war nobody wanted but everybody was talking about and getting prepared. The global earthquake in geopolitics will probably get worse, much worse, before getting better, and maybe is why these countries are looking for a defence umbrella. Let's pray for common sense, cool minds, realistic movements happen before the chaos spreads.

The Chinese government, "cannot control the [resurgence] in Covid-19 because it's spreading very fast," explains Gordon Chang, author of The Coming Collapse of China and The Great U.S.-China Tech War. This new variant is, "traveling at will and Beijing does not know what to do," he tells our Daniela Cambone. "Xi Jinping wants that third term," and that alone is why China would jeopardize its economy to achieve the “zero-Covid policy,” explains Chang. He also criticizes President Biden's foreign policy measures toward China as, "pro-Beijing," saying that there are challenges presented by China that this U.S. administration is just not seeing. Chang concludes that we've passed the inflection point of peace and stability, where Russia's recent actions have signaled to the rest of the world that the "bad guys can do what they want."

The TerraUSD algorithmic stablecoin continued to spiral lower, trading at less then 30 cents. Backers of the coin are trying to raise about $1.5 billion to shore up the token after it crashed from its dollar peg, according to the founder of a firm that was approached about the deal. There are lots of comments both pro and against it, some calling for leaving it die, which of course is not good for those who invested so much. We are learning a lot from this specific case on what to do and not to do. Now, what will be the consequences if this stable coin (and its sister token Luna) fail completely? Will be there a systemic risk for many other alt coins, whether are called stable coins or not? Governments or banks won't save us from anything which is going to get wrong. In finances is even clearer. That's is why we always say "get prepared, get ready!" And we yearn for a new crypto.2 market which will be coming once mass crypto use comes (and no doubt, it is coming), changing the society for better, not for a market of whales and retailers which move on speculation. Let's shift our mind to a new way of thinking, the 4th IR paradigm, where I don't really care about prices in market but what we do with those assets at middle and long term going beyond finance towards a societal change of mind and ways of living and work. Of course, by now many of the coins and tokens we see will have dissappeared as they are not but speculative tools or meme coins. Listen to Raoul Pal. Then think and act.

Prices are going down, but developments, innovation and disruption continues ahead. Whatever is going to happen, let's trust the resilience of digital economy. Yes, there will be losers but also winners, and investors know this is a part of that life. Stablecoins will probably have to change to avoid what is happening to Terra Luna, and big players like BTC and Ethereum will continue for better. If a stablecoin has real foundation it will come to 1:1, if not regulators and crypto actors themselves will know what to do. Crypto is growing, sometimes with happiness sometimes, like now, with some pain. But growth it is.
